Series: Monster High™ by Mattel Construction: 3-4 Days Premiered: FanimeCon 2011
Why Cleo de Nile? Why not? She's spunky, sassy, and so confident that she's on top. I know lots of people don't really like her, but I admire her character for expecting that everyone put in as much effort as she does. Besides, who doesn't love an Egyptian-theme costume? I love the Monster High world and concept. I can't wait to get some photos of this costume with my Deuce in tow. How'd you do it? I actually logged my process on MonsterHighDolls.com If you what the whole detailed shebang with photos and videos, just click the link. It will take you to a list of the blogs I wrote about it's construction. But to summarize, this was a very very easy costume to make. I actually quite loved it for it's simplicity. I did the wraps by painting a mummy-wrap design on lycra that was already cut out to be sewing into a one-piece body suit. The shoes were just wedge-styled sandals that I glues strips of lycra that were also painted with the mummy-wrap design. The biggest challenge of this costume was probably the wrap-around blouse. Because of the size of my chest, I couldn't quite find the perfect way to make it sit in place. Plus getting the sheer part to fall like how it does on the doll was a bit of a nightmare. However, in the end, I got it figured out. The costume turned out to be quite a comfortable wear. It probably took me no more than three-four days to make all together and it was ready a month before the convention I was planning to wear it to. A first for me and a personal cosplay accomplishment. After thoughts? I LOVED wearing this costume. I felt like I had a good grasp on the character, personality-wise and it was just fun to walk around in, even though some people didn't know what I was, they loved the concept, and I found some people who did recognize it and loved it. My next goal for when I don this costume again is getting the tanned-skin look. We'll see how that goes. ^^;
